Customized Educational Pathways

At Uchenna Academy, customized planning is co-created with students and their families to achieve their personal and academic potential and help them transition to the next higher academic level.

Our enriched Ontario academic curriculum offers a quality education so our students can be successful at their future endeavours.

Uchenna Academy offers students a variety of educational programs. Below are sample programs for our Ontario curriculum model:

Grade 7/8 Reach Ahead curriculum:

  • Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • French
  • History
  • Geography
  • Arts
  • Physical Education
  • Reach Ahead: Students who qualify are offered to take grade 9 high school credit courses.

High School Advanced Placement curriculum:

Grade 9 Course Program:

Note that there are two areas for choice:

  • Canadian Geography (CGC1D)
  • English (ENL1W)
  • French (FSF1D or FSF2D)
  • Mathematics (MTH1W or MPM2D)
  • Physical education (PPL10)
  • Science (SNC1D)
  • 2 credits in art, drama, business and technology – could be Technology and the Skilled Trades (TAS1O/2O)

Grade 10 Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 10 at Uchenna will take the following program:

  • Career studies (GLC2O) (0.5 credit)
  • Civics and Citizenship (0.5 credit) (CHV2O)
  • English (ENG2D)
  • History (CHC2D)
  • Mathematics (MPM2D or MCR3U)
  • Science (SNC2D)
  • Manufacturing Technology (TMJ2O)
  • 2 additional courses – One (1) may be in Advanced Placement (AP): AP Seminar, AP African American History or AP Psychology

Grade 11 Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 11 at Uchenna will take the following program:

Grade 12 Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 12 at Uchenna will take the following program:

  • English (ENG4U, can be AP Language and Composition)
  • Mathematics (MHF4U, MCV4U (can be AP), MDM4U)
  • Science: Chemistry (SCH4U), Biology (SBI4U) and/or Physics (SPH4U)
  • 3-5 additional courses, two (2) Advanced Placement: AP African American History, Languages, Physical Education (includes Kinesiology), Business, Economics, History, Politics, AP Research, SAT Prep Course

Post Graduate Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 13 at Uchenna will take the following program:

  • Be enrolled in terms 1 and 2 only (finish courses by end of February)
  • Take 3 courses per term for a total of 6 credits
  • Courses can be grade 11 and 12 level and will be decided upon based on student’s area of interest for their post-secondary studies.
