USA Curriculum Pathway

at Uchenna Academy

Uchenna Academy is pleased to offer two educational pathways leading to an American High School Diploma (AHSD):

  • USA Foundations High School Program (FHSP) (22 credits) 
  • Endorsement Educational Pathway (26 credits) 

These programs are based on Texas Education Agency’s high school curriculum. The programs are best suited for USA students or students wishing to pursue post-secondary education in USA Universities.

In both programs, each credit requires between 120-150 hours of instructional time. Half-credit courses are between 60-75 hours of instructional time. In some cases, half credit courses are extended to 110 hours (ex. Economics).

American High School Diploma (AHSD) curriculum:

Grade 9 Course Program at Uchenna will take the following program. Note that there are two areas for choice:

  • Geography
  • English I
  • French
  • Algebra I
  • Physical Education
  • Science
  • 2 credits in art, drama, business and technology.

Grade 10 Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 10 at Uchenna will take the following program:

  • Career studies
  • Civics and Citizenship (0.5 credit)
  • English
  • American History
  • Algebra II
  • Science (SNC2D)
  • 3 additional courses – One (1) may be in Advanced Placement (AP): AP Seminar, AP African American History or AP Psychology

Grade 11 Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 11 at Uchenna will take the following program:

  • English III
  • Geometry
  • Science: Chemistry (SCH3U), Biology (SBI3U) and/or Physics (SPH3U)
  • Basketball: Design Your Future: Business of Basketball (GWL3O)
  • Economics – ECO-FE (0.5 credit)
  • Up to 3 additional courses, two (2) Advanced Placement (AP): Languages, Physical Education (includes Leadership), Business, AP Psychology, History, Politics, Design Your Future in Basketball

Grade 12 Course Program at Uchenna

Students in Grade 12 at Uchenna will take the following program:

  • English IV (can be AP Language and Composition)
  • AP Calculus AB
  • Science: Chemistry (SCH4U), Biology (SBI4U) and/or Physics (SPH4U)
  • 3 additional courses, two (2) Advanced Placement: AP African American History, Languages, Physical Education (includes Kinesiology), Business, Economics, History, Politics, AP Research, SAT Prep Course
